Roles and Practices of Educators in Technology-Supported Learning
Published online: 29 Feb Published online: 22 Dec Katherine McKnight et al. Published online: 21 May Attend this workshop to learn the rationale behind creating learning menus in the classroom: the why, the how, and the what now. This workshop will also focus on the digitalization of these menus through the G-Suite where teachers will be able to hyperlink assignments to create choice boards, learning menus, and even Tic-Tac-Toe assignments.
This workshop will be useful for all educators and administrators in a setting, and will be especially useful for those in a co-teaching environment both ENL and Special Education. Personalized learning is not the latest fad in education. Educators can be challenged to distinguish personalized learning from other technology-enhanced instruction such as blended learning, differentiation and flipped learning. With personalized learning, the student is at the center of all learning, not the content or device.
By empowering the learner with voice and choice, engagement and mastery is increased. The panelists will discuss the personalized learning success stories from each of their districts with examples on how to unlock student-centered learning in every classroom. Questions from the audience are highly suggested as we hope to create a conversation around best learning practices.
With meaningful data in their hands, students can identify the standards they have mastered and feel good about, and teachers are able to create individualized learning plans. Educators will utilize the four-phase strategy as a cyclical method to remove presumptions, depersonalize, organize, integrate data and generate an action plan. Participants will engage in a simulated experience through a practical work session to work with data and teacher created templates that monitor student growth through targeted instruction.
Tired of the same five students answering all of your in-class questions? Plickers, Google Forms, and Kahoot all allow you to gather feedback from every single student in your class in a matter of seconds. Watch and learn, or bring your laptop, tablet, or smartphone to test-drive them yourself! As an educator do you find it difficult to engage parents in their student's curriculum? In this workshop we will discuss communication tools that can be used from a school district and a classroom level to not just communicate but engage parents.
The education system is rapidly changing due to three emerging forces: traditional minority groups are now the majority with English learners as the fastest growing population; standards in STEM are academically rigorous, and technological innovations are advancing fast. This presentation will address integration of science and computational thinking with all students, including English learners.
Second, the presentation will describe how to integrate science learning and language learning with English learners. Finally, the presentation will describe how to integrate science with computational thinking and modeling. In this presentation, educators will learn engagement strategies to facilitate delivery of instruction. Methods for designing Escape Room style lessons incorporating standards will be shared.
Erik Sweet and David J. Ani Rosario, who was on the review team for the ELA Standards Review, will present examples of how her school uses technology in the classroom to ensure students are meeting the standards. Join a cross disciplinary panel of teachers from Malone Central School District to learn about the district's initiative and how the teachers are embracing the opportunity to reach each student via technology tools that engage students in higher order thinking. Learn about our journey to Personalized Learning as a co-teaching pair.
We will share how we differentiate instruction with and without tech! We will highlight practical strategies that can be easily transferred into your classroom -- whether you co-teach or not! Contact Us Employment Business Portal.
